【摘要】:Thedeterminationofthewater-content,ormoisturecontent,ofsoilisoneofthefundamentalneedsinthesoilphysicsandhydrologydisciplines.Theneedarisesfromrequirementsfordefiningtheoptimaltimeforirrigation,theinfiltrationrate,thesoil-moistureflux,contaminanttransportrates,andevaluatingthepotentialforleakagefromawastesiteorasurfaceorsubsurfacebarrier.TheTDRapplicationcoveredinthistestmethodisthatusedforpointmeasurementsofmoisturecontentinsoil.Theapplicationiseitherthroughmanualinsertionintothesoilorbyburyingaprobeinthesubsurfacetoacquiremoisturecontentdataataspecificlocation.Inaddition,coresamplesmaybetestedwithTDRatadrillsitetoacquirereal-timesoilmoisturedata.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofwatercontent(ormoisturecontent)insoilbytheuseoftheelectromagnetictechniquecalledTime-DomainReflectometry(TDR).1.2ThistestmethodwaswrittentodetailtheprocedureforconventionalTDRmeasurementsofsoil.OtherTDRapplicationsexistforthepurposeofquantifyingwatercontentinsoilandarenotcoveredhere,suchasflatprobetechnologiesandwettingfrontadvancemethods.1.3CommercialTDRapplicationsexistwhichautomatetheTDRmethodologyandarenotdetailedinthistestmethod.Itislikelythatoverlapexistsintheautomatedcommercialsystemsversusthisappliedmethod,andtheuserisencouragedtoadheretothistestmethodwhenapplicable.1.4Thistestmethodisoneofaseriesonvadosezonecharacterizationmethods.Otherstandardshavebeenpreparedonvadosezonecharacterizationtechniques.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
